Nora's Lakeside Begins Demolition
Work is currently underway at Nora's Lakeside, the former home of Milo's Best Cellars, 538 Nevada Way. The contractor, Urban Jungle Construction, has received an approved demolition permit from the City and work has begun to remove some parts of the building and begin excavation for the new kitchen area where the courtyard was.
Currently, access to the public, ADA accessible sidewalk is available while the demolition and excavation are ongoing. There is a temporary wood framed construction barrier in place in front of the restaurant. This structure is permitted through the City's Public Works Department and will be removed at the conclusion of construction, expected in the last quarter of 2027. This is done to protect the public and the property from possible injuries or damage.
We contacted Matt Hess of Hess Civil Consulting, consultant for the project, who advised us of the following:
There are some things I’d like to share. For starters, we will have work that does affect the public. We are excavating the existing courtyard and removing the soil there to allow space for the future kitchen. The spoils from the courtyard will be excavated and removed after hours so that we don't affect the businesses during the day. We will be performing this work from 10:00PM to 6:00AM, Sunday through Thursday nights. During excavation, there will be some noise associated with this work, but Urban Jungle Construction will be as mindful to the surrounding neighbors as much as possible. We’re excited about this project and look forward to Nora’s lakeside opening next year.
As with all projects in the Historic District, the construction of the new restaurant is expected to take some time. The owners, Marcello and Morgan Mauro, don't expect to be open until the last quarter of 2027, at the earliest, so please be patient as they work to make another restaurant we can all be proud of here in our community!
