I saw on History.com this morning that construction on Hoover Dam began on this day – July 7th, 1930.
It took approximately 21,000 men 5 years to complete, ultimately being finished 2 years ahead of schedule and millions of dollars under budget. Think that would happen these days?
Just for fun, at 726 feet, Hoover Dam is the 2nd highest dam in the country – trailing the 770-foot Oroville Dam in Northern California by a mere 44 feet. And from what it looks like on Wikipedia here, we might be the only dam that borders two states? Not 100% sure…but maybe!
