I’m still surprised at the number of things I don’t know, even after living in Boulder City for 5+ years.
I took advantage of Lake Mead National Recreation Area’s “free fee day” last weekend in honor of Veterans Weekend and just went adventuring.
I stumbled across a campground and discovered that you can rent your own campground/picnic space for $10 a day. Ahh, but I’ve never camped a day in my life…so what intrigued me?
Yes, there were overnight campers there…some were roughing it with tents on the ground and others had luxury motor homes. But there were also just ‘day-trippers’ who had piled the kids and dogs in the car with all their BBQ paraphernalia and were just there with family or friends for a picnic.
I thought this was a pretty cool idea for a day’s getaway, so took a photo of the check-in sign…you just leave your $10 in an envelope with your chosen space number on it and then go enjoy your concreted space, picnic table and grill setup.
Looks super fun, I think!
