Bill No. 1809 was introduced at last night’s City Council meeting and if passed, it would amend the City Code to prohibit all “other” marijuana establishments in Boulder City, in addition to the existing prohibition of medical marijuana establishments. You can see the proposed change in language in the image below and my assumption is that it will be on the May 23rd (2017) agenda.
The Planning Commission was split on its recommendation with four members (Glen Leavitt, Ernest Biacsi, Jim Giannosa, Fritz McDonald) recommending DENIAL of the application to expand the prohibition, primarily because they felt that more information could and should be acquired first (about the possible generation of fees and tax revenues from non-retail establishments such as grow warehouses or research laboratories, for instance). The three members that recommended passing the bill to exclude all marijuana establishments (retail and otherwise) were Cokie Booth, Paul Matuska and Steve Walton.
