Presidential Preference Primary and Caucus Information

We received the following information from the City Clerk's office and are sharing it with our readers:
In 2021 the Nevada State Legislature passed bipartisan legislation (Assembly Bill 126) mandating that a Presidential Preference Primary (PPP) be held for all major political parties on the first Tuesday of February of each presidential election year, if more than one qualified candidate files a declaration of candidacy (NRS 298.600-720).Starting in 2024, Nevada will have a Presidential Preference Primary (PPP) on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. Only voters who are registered Democrat or Republican may vote in this election.
Major parties are responsible for how they select their nominee for president. The Republican Party will be holding a caucus on Thursday, February 8, 2024. The Democratic Party is not holding a caucus. For more information on how the PPP or caucus impact the presidential candidate delegate selection, please contact the Democratic or Republican Parties directly.
