Queen Tacos Bring LA Style Food to Boulder City

The first thing you notice when you round the corner of Wyoming Street and Nevada Way is the delicious scent wafting from a small trailer parked on the former gas station property. It entices you as you come closer to explore the origin, where you’re promptly greeted by Vickie Valdivia and her wife and business partner, Gloria Zaragoza. The are the queens of this corner of the Boulder City Historic Business District and the proud owners of Queen Tacos. The shop is located at 567 Nevada Way, between Ace Hardware and the new Beer Zombies bar currently wrapping up construction.

Vickie and Gloria come to Boulder City by way of Las Vegas, where they had their first successful mobile restaurant. But they originate from Los Angeles, home of some of the best Mexican food in the United States. The street style vendors, which are so popular in LA, were slow to catch on in wider Las Vegas, which prompted them to start their business in July 2017. They brought along cherished family recipes from Gloria’s mom and grandma in Michoacan Pajacuarán, a smallish town in Central Mexico.

The ladies arrive in Boulder City around 9:00AM most days to prepare for their noon opening. Everything is made fresh on the premises. The menu is typical of what you’d see at many taco spots, but the flavors are definitely bringing that Los Angeles neighborhood taste. From the popular birria (dipped) tacos to elote (street corn) and esquites (elote in a cup), you will be treated to authentic food at reasonable prices. They also offer asada fries or nachos, both Southern California staples, tortas, traditional street tacos with cilantro and onions and served on corn tortillas, quesadillas and mulitas (basically a double decker quesadilla), Mexican style fruit cups (seasonal) and taco combo plates with rice and beans. They have several types of burritos, including a vegetable burrito. The best part is, all food is cooked to order to create a “flavors that dance in your mouth”, as Vickie says! They consistently make good on that promise! There are also deliciously flavored Jarritos and regular waters available to round out your meal.

There are clean picnic tables to eat your food there, and food is available to go in-person or you can call (702) 496-2499 to place a phone order. The restaurant is open everyday EXCEPT Tuesday and Wednesday, from 12:00PM to 9:00PM. You call follow them on social media at the following handles: Facebook (HERE), Instagram (HERE), Twitter (HERE). They aren’t real active on social media right now but will be stepping up the content production when their nephew joins the team to manage their online presence. Check them out soon!
