Here is a super informative segment from last night’s Channel 3 News broadcast about the planned truck stop Railroad Pass Hotel & Casino will be building … lots of details and even a look at the plans/schematics of the entire layout.
On a related note, a competing travel center was one of the potential ideas that has been floated around (at least at the time of the public meeting for public input) for what should be developed at the nearby I-11 / US 95 Interchange.
Proponents for this idea have said that a big brand name travel center (i.e. Love’s, Pilot or Maverick) would likely be interested in paying top dollar for space right next to an interchange and that would be good for Boulder City’s coffers.
Opponents have said that any kind of retail development would only further encourage highway travelers to bypass Boulder City for things like gas, restroom facilities, road trip munchies, etc. and that would have a devastating effect on local businesses.
Interesting and very different points of view. What do you think? Would you be in favor (or not so much) of a competing travel center and/or any other type of retail facility (vs. commercial or industrial only) being built at the interchange?
