Paul Hanks is a man on a mission and that mission is to bring the love he has for rocks, stones and crystals to others. He’s doing that with two stores, the newest on located here at 733 Nevada Way, next to Southwest Diner.
The plan was set into action when Paul and his family, who had been frequent visitors to our town, were having a meal at Southwest Diner. While they were eating, a realtor popped up next door with a “FOR SALE” sign for the vacant space next door and the rest is history!
We spent some time recently with Stormie Sozzoni, the store’s manager. She gave us a tour of the store and talked about the plans for the newest store. First of all, the original store is located in La Verkin, Utah. However, Paul had been wanting to expand to Nevada and fell in love with Boulder City. You may recognize him from his pop up location at the Spring Jamboree Gem and Mineral Show, where he has appeared for several years. The Clark County area is a popular location for collectors and he looked forward to opening a store here. When the opportunity presented itself, he knew he could finally make his expansion dreams a reality.
When you walk into the store, you will be impressed by its beauty. From the “river” in the flooring to the beautiful displays set up around the store, you can clearly see the love and dedication to showcasing these pieces of art. There are the typical finds like geodes, agates, gem bones, and jasper, but you can also find gorgeous petrified wood, sandstone, and turquoise. They also offer a collection of metaphysical crystals, worry stones and other healing crystals for those who are interested in those.
Paul travels throughout the southwest with his collections and is constantly on the lookout for more products to add to his stores. There are beautiful art pieces available for sale and they have a lot of spectacular jewelry available that would also make excellent holiday gifts. There are also cabochons (“cabs”) that can be purchased and made into different types of jewelry.
