Now that the holiday season has concluded, many people have shiny new electronics, sparkling jewelry, and other valuable gifts that may be attractive to thieves. Keeping track of your expensive home inventory can be difficult, but the Boulder City Police Department subscribes to a service that may be helpful! It’s called ReportIt and it’s a cloud-based service for residents to use to manage their treasured items.
ReportIt lets you securely store serial numbers, item descriptions, pictures, and scans of receipts so that your items may be more easily identified in the event of theft or loss. It’s available from anywhere in the world, which is helpful if your home or business is burglarized while you’re away from home.
To get started, you must create a free account HERE. The company will send an email to you to complete your registration. Once registered and verified, you can begin adding items to your database. Users are limited to 25 items for a free account, but you can purchase additional storage by contacting the company HERE. Once you’ve completed the data entry, you can create different reports to manage the information.
Bear in mind that ReportIt is not a law enforcement function and does not automatically search for property that may have been lost or stolen. Please report any criminal activity to law enforcement immediately.
