School's Back in Session: What You Should Know

Today marks the first day of school for more than 280,000 Clark County School District (CCSD) students, including hundreds of kids right here in Boulder City. There are some things CCSD and the City of Boulder City would like you to be aware of as kids head off to school this year.

First of all, some school starting and ending times have changed. Here are the schedules for the local Boulder City schools:

• AJ Mitchell Elementary School: 9:15AM to 3:26PM


• MP King Elementary School: 9:10AM to 3:31PM


• EM Garrett Middle School: 8:20AM to 2:51PM (early bird classes begin at 7:20AM)


• Boulder City High School: 8:30AM to 2:41PM (early bird classes begin at 7:35AM)

That means school zone time changes for drivers. Be sure to pay attention to students, crossing guards, signs, and lights while in a school zone. The zones will be active 7:40AM to 9:25AM and 2:20PM to 4:05PM on school days. Some other things to remember while in a school zone:

• No passing or overtaking slower moving vehicles in a school zone


• No U-turns in a school zone


• Fines and penalties in active school zones are doubled

Breakfast and lunch are provided FREE of charge to local students at the schools. Students may order a la carte items with the appropriate funds. Menus for each school are below:

Homecoming at Boulder City High School will be the week of September 14th. The parade will take place on Thursday, September 17, the football game on Friday, September 18, and the homecoming dance on Saturday, September 19.
