Another holiday weekend is upon us and so we KNOW the traffic at Buchanan and Nevada Way will get insanely congested at various times throughout the next week, right?
Here’s a little known fact — when it gets bad, one of our BCPD officers steps out and does a little traffic control … but not the old fashioned way where they stand in the intersection and wave traffic through.
The officer flips a switch inside the traffic control utility box from “Auto” to “Hand” and then uses a clicker to manually control the stop lights, allowing more “green light time” to the congested direction than the ones that have no cars or pedestrians waiting.
So give a wave to the officer the next time you see him out there easing the congestion through town … cuz it’s FREEZING out there!
