Secret Traffic Congestion Helpers

Another holiday weekend is upon us and so we KNOW the traffic at Buchanan and Nevada Way will get insanely congested at various times throughout the next week, right?

Here's a little known fact -- when it gets bad, one of our BCPD officers steps out and does a little traffic control ... but not the old fashioned way where they stand in the intersection and wave traffic through.

The officer flips a switch inside the traffic control utility box from "Auto" to "Hand" and then uses a clicker to manually control the stop lights, allowing more "green light time" to the congested direction than the ones that have no cars or pedestrians waiting.

So give a wave to the officer the next time you see him out there easing the congestion through town ... cuz it's FREEZING out there!
