Shane Patton was born in San Diego on November 15, 1982. He moved to Boulder City as a child and graduated from Boulder City High School. In January 2001, he enlisted in the United States Navy and completed basic training. He attended SEAL training from December 2001 to December 2002. He deployed to Afghanistan with Seal Team TEN in April 2005. He was killed in action on June 28, 2005 when the MH-47 Chinook helicopter he was aboard was shot down by enemy fire. He is buried at the Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Boulder City.
Saturday, June 28, 2025 marks the twentieth anniversary of Shane’s death. The memorial statue to this local hero will be unveiled on that date in Wilbur Square at 4:00PM. The community is invited to attend the ceremony.
Immediately after the unveiling, the annual Shane Patton Pub Crawl will take place. Participating locations include The Dillinger, Skinny Bar, Cement Slipper Tiki Bar, Cornish Pasty, Hangar 502, Big T’s Cantina, Boulder Dam Brewing Company, Jack’s Place, Beer Zombies, Maxx’s Food and Drink, Fox’s Smokehouse BBQ, Leafy Latitude Cigars and Bar, and Bar Next Door. T-shirts are available for purchase this Saturday night (May 31) at Skinny Bar, located at 524 Nevada Highway.
