Silver State Lampworking to Host Grand Reopening at New Location

Silver State Lampworking, a beloved local art school and lampworking business, will be moving to a new downtown location this month. Owners Alli and Shane Apsey are planning a Grand Reopening at 410 Nevada Way, Suite 160 on Saturday, July 11 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. This new location is perfect for their business as it will provide more foot traffic from visitors, and be a more convenient location for Boulder City residents to shop as well. It will also facilitate their appearances at local art shows like Spring Jamboree and Art in the Park.
We first told you about Silver State Lampworking in 2024 when Shane started his Paws for Pups fundraiser (HERE) and then we told you about their new shop and retail space HERE, back in 2025. At that time, Shane and Alli had taken a cottage business they were running from their home, to a brick-and-mortar location on Industrial Road. They've enjoyed great success since then, with both the retail and educational sides of their business. This new location will allow them to be even more involved in the community!
Shane is the primary teacher at Silver State Lampworking and the couple plan to continue their special classes offering various types of arts and crafts for all skill levels. Alli assists Shane with teaching between her nursing shifts. They encourage patrons to get out of their comfort zones and try their hands at some artistic and creative endeavors. All of the classes they will offer at the new location will use kid-safe, nontoxic materials, paints that are environmentally friendly and animal safe too. They find teaching to be a very rewarding part of Silver State Lampworking and they are excited for future events in their new location. One thing they won't be able to offer at their new location is glass blowing, due to the strict building codes for public safety. However, they will continue to expand their other classes to keep things fun and interesting. Stay tuned for updates!
The Grand Reopening event is sure to be a great time! They will be having a ribbon cutting at their new location at 5:00PM. There will be a raffle at 6:30PM for some great prizes and all purchases will be 10% off during the event only! In addition to the prizes and discounts, The Bourbon Babe mobile bartender will be on hand and you can enjoy complimentary mocktails and light snacks from BBB Bakery here in town!
Be sure to check out their social media to see some of the beautiful items designed and created by Shane. This includes their Facebook page HERE, Instagram HERE, TikTok HERE and website HERE. They will post more about the classes and activities they offer on social media.
Another cool thing Alli and Shane provide is their routine Boulder City Glass Treasure Hunt, which is a marble hunt. What's a marble hunt? Shane and family hide handcrafted marbles in various locations around Boulder City and give clues to the locations. The first one to find the marble, gets to keep it! You can join in the community wide hunts by requesting to join the private Facebook group HERE. Members of the group are also encouraged to safely hide marbles or glass treasures of their own, with location clues, posted in the group.
The Apsey family are also well-known in the community for their devotion to animals, particularly dogs. One way they've demonstrated this is by adopting a dog named Seven. We shared some of Seven's remarkable story HERE. He was abused and left to die before Animal Control staff and veterinarian assistance nursed him back to health. As soon as he became available for adoption, the Apsey family made their interest known. It took a little bit to make this happen, but Seven is thriving in their care and he now also has a little sister, a Belgian Malinois named Sadie, to play with and look after. Shane and Alli have three children as well, daughters Maryjane and Elizabeth both students at Boulder City High in the twelfth and ninth grades respectively, and a son, Colt, a sixth grader who will attend EM Garrett Middle School. You can see the family in the Damboree Parade Saturday, including Seven, as he is one of the Grand Marshals for the annual event!
