Well, isn’t this is just the greatest news ever! Local favorite, Southwest Diner, will be expanding their restaurant in the next few months with a hope to have the new portion open in May. They aren’t so much moving, but expanding next door to their current space into the storefront previously occupied by the rock shop. The restaurant is located at 761 Nevada Way, at the corner of Nevada Way and Fifth Street.
We spoke with Cindy Ford, owner of Southwest Diner, and she’s excited to get the project underway. They don’t plan any major menu changes but they will be focusing on serving more dinner type dishes for those who want to stop in in the evening for a delicious bite and a slice of pie. The new expansion will also have a full bar for customers who want to enjoy a “social sparkler”! Of course you can continue to expect the same great food, friendly service, and charming atmosphere the restaurant is known for.
The popular restaurant, with its iconic signage (which we LOVE, btw) is in its third decade and they still use the delicious recipes of Grandma Citrowski, Cindy’s grandmother. In fact, the motto of the restaurant is “Homemade is Our Specialty”! If you’ve ever had “The California” or a bowl of chili, or added “Those Potatoes” to your meal, you know exactly what we’re talking about!
The restaurant is open Sunday thru Thursday from 7:00AM to 7:00PM, Friday and Saturday from 7:00AM to 8:00PM. you can find them on Facebook HERE, Instagram HERE, and Twitter HERE. They also have a website HERE with their full menu where you can also join their VIP Club. You can order food for pickup by calling (702) 293-1537.
We are so excited for Cindy and her staff and we’ll keep you posted on the progress of construction and let you know when the new seating area is open. Best wishes to the folks at Southwest Diner as they grow again!
