Here’s a super neat little 6-minute video with all you ever wanted to know about St. Thomas, Nevada — the town that was flooded 60 feet under water when Lake Mead began filling in 1935.
Officially, St. Thomas ceased to exist when the post office closed on June 11, 1938.
The video shows the town when it did exist (through photos), an artist’s video animation of what the flooding would have looked like (sadly, exactly what one sees on the nightly news these days), and what the town looks like today, now that the lakes low levels have exposed the town again (since 2002, in fact).
