State of the City: Working Together

The theme of this year's State of the City Address by Mayor Joe Hardy was "Working Together" and he highlighted this by mentioning several ways the city had worked together to achieve various goals and objectives in 2023. Decorating the venue, at Boulder Creek Golf Course Pavilion, were numerous large puzzle pieces that symbolized the theme.
the national anthem was delivered by Stella Roy, student at Boulder City High School and an invocation by Pastor Jason King of Calvary Chapel. The mayor was introduced by Taylour Tedder, City Manager.
Mayor Hardy opened his remarks with an introduction to various special dignitaries in attendance and other local entities. Seen in the assembled group were the following guests:
- Boulder City Chamber of Commerce: Jill Rowland-Lagan
- City of Henderson: Mayor Michelle Romero, Councilmember Jim Seebock, and Councilmember Dan Shaw
- City of North Las Vegas: Mayor Pamela Goynes Brown
- Regional Transportation Commission: Chief Financial Officer Marc Traasdahl
During his speech, Mayor Hardy noted that the cities, county, and regional organizations frequently work together to achieve the goals and objectives of all. As an example, he noted that both Boulder City and Henderson had acquired land in the Eldorado Valley through annexation. The City of Henderson is moving forward with developing their land by zoning various industrial and professional uses, while recognizing that the City of Boulder City wishes to keep its development free buffer around the City. This successful partnership achieves the goals of both cities.
The City Council Members were each introduced by the Mayor and he spoke about the various regional boards, commissions, and districts they serve on, representing the interests of Boulder City.

During the Mayor's speech, he spoke about the work each department performed in 2023 and its major projects or accomplishments. The various city department managers were introduced to the group assembled.

- Communications Manager: Lisa LaPlante (absent) and staff
- Community Development: Michael Mayes and staff
- Finance Department: Cynthia Sneed and staff

- Municipal Court: Judge Victor Miller and staff
- Parks and Recreation: Julie Calloway and staff
- Police Chief: Tim Shea and staff
- Public Works: Jamie Curreri and staff
- Utility and Infrastructure Department: Joe Stubitz
