Our dear friends at Lend A Hand have sounded a call for volunteers for their organization. Lend A Hand, which was founded here in Boulder City in 1989, has taken care of fellow Boulder City residents for decades. The organization wouldn’t be the success it is today without the assistance of all the wonderful volunteers. Their mission is:
Our mission is to help improve the quality of life for persons with disabling disorders, the chronically ill, and the frail elderly by assisting them and / or their caregivers with services not otherwise available or accessible in Boulder City.
We have many “seasoned citizens” in our community. In fact, we have twice the state average for the group 65 and older! That’s a lot of folks. They need help with transportation to medical appointments, shopping, and personal needs, as well as respite care for caregivers. Many of the clients are on low or fixed incomes, which makes Lend A Hand even more valuable to them.
From their website (HERE):
Volunteers are the backbone of our organization, and we are enormously grateful for their passion and commitment. The work of both Boulder City and Henderson residents who serve as volunteers is an essential component of the success of Lend A Hand, but more are needed to meet the increasing needs of our aging population.
If you like to drive, visit with people, do household tasks, or provide respite for existing caregivers consider volunteering with Lend A Hand – our hours and duties are flexible. Volunteers meet new people, learn about history, see various parts of the greater Las Vegas area and benefit by knowing they are making a positive difference in someone else’s life.
