Back in 2010 American Express started a nationwide advertising campaign called “Shop Local Saturday”, and it’s taken hold in communities large and small, including right here in Boulder City.
The ads were created to remind shopping consumers that in the blitz of online shopping from Black Friday (where deals are already pouring into your inboxes now!) thru Cyber Monday, somewhere in the midst of that, are your LOCAL brick-and-mortar businesses.
Why does it matter? Because nationwide, small businesses employ almost 50% of the workforce, and in the state of Nevada, the Department of Business & Industry estimates that number to be 53%.
So just a happy reminder, that a great way to spend this Saturday might be strolling through town with your gift list in mind to shop, eat, and enjoy the day here in Boulder City! Of special note, several downtown area merchants are hosting a “Shop the Block” event all weekend, which we told you about HERE.
Also new this year are Boulder City tree ornaments from the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce. Check these out:
You can purchase an ornament for $25 at 100 Nevada Way, Monday thru Friday, from 9:00AM to 5:00PM, excluding holidays. These would make excellent gifts as well.
