Local law enforcement confirmed that a man tried to attack a power substation Thursday morning near I-11. The suspect, reported missing from Albany, New York earlier in the month, was identified as 23-year-old Dawson Maloney. Maloney apparently spent a few days in Boulder City before targeting the substation Thursday morning. Boulder City Police Department officers were the first on the scene, at what was originally reported as a vehicle accident and possible suicide. Upon further investigation, it was noted that the subject had a number of weapons in the vehicle, including explosive materials. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Las Vegas Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation were contacted and they quickly responded to the scene. No motive has been established, but the suspect left behind white supremacist and anti- government materials.
