Last year, the City teamed up with a number of different agency’s to help clean up our act here in town, so to speak!
If you’ve got hard to dispose of items that need to be shredded, hauled away, cleaned up, rounded up and just can’t get to the dump easily, then this is your day!
Last year was the first time this was done in Boulder City, and it was a great success! This year, they’d like it to be even BIGGER and see as much participation around the community as possible – neighbors helping neighbors.
We reached out to Michal Mays, the City’s Community Development Director, and here’s what he had to say:
The Boulder City Chamber of Commerce and Boulder City are collaborating with several organizations for this year’s event. The organizations below will be collecting household items, pet supplies, expired medication, books, electronics, paint and paper to shred. The partners are:
- Blind Center of Nevada
- Opportunity Village
- Boulder City Library
- BC Waste
- Street Dogz
- Goodwill
It is a great opportunity for residents to clean out their homes and yards of unwanted items that can be recycled and reused. This effort not only helps organizations that can use the unwanted items, but it also helps improve Boulder City neighborhoods.
Another way citizens can participate is through helping neighbors in need. Do you know a neighbor who may have items they would like to get rid of, but do not have the means to get it to Bravo Field on March 30th? You could offer to bring their items for them. In that way, more Boulder City residents are able to take advantage of this great, once a year event!
Residents can get more information on the city’s website or can contact the Boulder City Community Development Department with any questions at 293-9282.
So, if you’re a member of a local church or other group, consider putting together a team to help clean out a resident’s yard or home, who could use an extra hand. There are also youth groups who need Community Service hours for volunteering. Let’s see what Boulder City can do with this idea!
