You’ve just gotta give a big hug and a round of applause for the man behind the magic – Dale Ryan – for all the work he puts into the annual Christmas House (1525 Fifth Street)! Pictured here, along with Dyanah Musgrave, we are all very lucky that they chose many years ago to make Boulder City their home!
This year is an EXTRA SPECIAL treat, as believe it or not this is the 20th Anniversary of their magical Christmas House lights experience!
On Friday, December 1st they will turn on the lights and they have some extra special celebrations going on as well! The street will close at 4pm (make note, drivers!) and they will have a stage performance from from Dance Etc.! Plus, music, Channel 8 from Last Vegas, and Boulder City’s own Miss Nevada, Taylor Blatchford, and the Boulder City Mounted Police Unit will be on hand, all decked out for the night for crowd control, and of course photo ops too.
Then we’re told that at 5:15 pm Santa and Jingle Cat (of course!) will do the countdown and then the lights will come on for the season!
Dale’s been working hard for months now. He tells us on average he puts in over 100 hours of work each year on the display. Most of the time is spent repairing lights and various mechanisms that wear out or that the sun and wind inevitably take their toll on. He even paints the colors back into individual lights, people – now that is some serious dedication, wouldn’t you say?
Afterwards, just walk a few blocks back up to Nevada Way and attend the Annual Boulder City Tree Lighting at 6pm….which we’re told there will also be some updated programming for this year as well!
Remember – when it comes to viewing the lights at our famous Christmas House, to always be respectful of their home and neighbors, as there are often crowds all season long. Also remember that the house is lit and open for visitors from 5pm – 9pm, but if it’s rainy or on a night with heavy winds, the house will not be lighted as it is not safe. Enjoy everyone – we’ll see you all there!
