The Peace Light From Bethlehem arrived in Boulder City on Friday afternoon after the folks at Boulder City United Methodist Church drove down to Phoenix to pick it up and further its journey throughout the country.
The Peace Light is a continuous flame fetched from the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem each year by an Austrian child and flown back to Austria, where it is then distributed throughout the world. It started coming to New York for its North America distribution in 2004, courtesy of the Boy Scouts International Division and has now made its way to Boulder City!
Boulder City UMC distributed the flame to the other churches in town yesterday and will hold a ceremony at St. Jude’s Chapel that is open to all on Sunday, December 18th (2016) at 1pm. Anyone who wishes to take the flame home with them may bring a candle or lantern (and a means to safely transport it).
