If you’ve been a part of any charitable events in Boulder City, you probably already know this quarter’s Unsung Hero of the Friends of Boulder City Police Department.
Why? Because chances are that you’ve already gotten to know Pete Iovino, General Manager of our local Albertsons…someone who has been tirelessly donating time, effort and money to the community for a good number of years now!
Here is what Friends of Boulder City Police Department has to say about their choice for this month’s Unsung Hero recipient, Pete Iovino:
Not a lot of store managers have touched Boulder City like this quarter’s Unsung Hero. Since assuming control of the Boulder City Albertsons six year ago, this quarter’s Hero, Pete Iovino, has made it his business to immerse himself and his staff with Boulder City. Mr. Iovino and his colleagues can be seen hauling donated food items, cooking at fundraisers and handing out bottles of water at the summer’s hottest events.
An avid support of the community is not Mr. Iovino’s only level of involvement. He has facilitated the opportunity for several local non-profits to raise funds via Albertsons’ customers. Some of the benefactors are the Boulder City Museum and Historical Association, the Salvation Army Bell Ringers, both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts just to name a few. Additionally, Albertsons has been a key strategic partner in the ongoing National Night Out program, which features the popular police vs. fire softball game – held the first Tuesday in August.
Our local Albertsons, under Mr. Iovino’s leadership, also proudly recognizes Boulder City Veterans currently serving their country. Through his great leadership, Mr. Iovino has made our local Albertsons a significant community partner, which makes it fitting that his leadership and commitment to community makes him our winter 2012 Unsung Hero recipient. Congratulations, Mr. Iovino!
