Well, other than an awesome day when school is closed, right?
Nevada Day celebrates the anniversary that the State of Nevada was admitted to the Union way back in 1864! October 31st, 1864 – to be exact and up until 1998, it was always celebrated on October 31st. But the legislature changed it officially to be recognized on the last Friday in October with a parade on the Saturday following (up in Carson City, I think).
This year (2018), Nevada Day will be observed on Friday, October 26th and because it’s a state holiday, the schools will be closed, as well as the Boulder City Library. Welcome to a 3-Day Weekend! One of the VERY few things that make you wish you were a kid again, right?
