Two Contagious Diseases Threatening Nevada Horses

Horse Illness in Boulder City, NevadaHeads up, horse lovers … a couple of highly contagious diseases (equine herpes and ‘strangles’) have popped up in at least half a dozen horses and one of them was at a Boulder City rodeo earlier this month.

The Nevada State Department of Agriculture has recommended a moratorium on rodeos for the next 30 days and advises that horse owners keep an eye open for high temperatures, coughing, runny noses, and even swelling under the throat of all horses.
