The unofficial election results currently show candidate Matt Fox winning the last City Council seat over candidate Cokie Booth, by a very close margin of about 150 votes. It also shows both ballot questions related to the municipal pool passed easily. There are still ballots to be counted though, so don’t consider these results official until the Special City Council meeting on Monday, June 28 at 9:00AM at City Hall, located at 401 California Avenue. You can review the current updates to the election results on the Clark County Election Department website HERE.
Another interesting thing to note is that mail-in voting was by far the most popular method of voting. As of last night, 56% of the votes cast in the election were cast via mail-in ballots. According to the City, the deadline to receive mail ballots and to conduct signature cure is 5:00PM on June 24, 2021, and in order to qualify ballots must be postmarked on or before June 15th, Election Day. The Nevada Legislature approved mail-in voting for future elections earlier this month with Assembly Bill 321, signed into law by Governor Steve Sisolak.
We will keep you updated on the final, certified results when accepted by the City Council.
