This Saturday is also the 30th Anniversary of the Unserviceable Flag Retirement Ceremony out at the Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery, (1900 Veterans Memorial Drive) starting at 10am. It is a highly moving ceremony and we recommend that all who can please attend. Put on by the Valley of Fire Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, it is about as steeped in American patriotic tradition as you can get.  We spoke to Michele Mueller the Chapter Regent about the service. She says they have the flyover and accompanying speakers and ceremony and the folding of the flags attended by mostly veterans and the local Scouting troupes. At the end the cotton flags are burned after receiving all of their proper handling and ceremony. We know it's the start of the Spring Jamboree that morning, but if you have an hour it might be a nice trek over to the cemetery to check this out. And to all who put this on each and every year - Thank You!
