If you haven’t been to the Boulder City/Hoover Dam Museum in a while, you might want to wander over there sometime this month. They’ve made some small changes lately, and have some really BIG plans down the way!
We met with Tiane Marie, the Museum Manager/Collections wonder-woman, and she gave us quite the run-down on what they’ve been up to.
First off, if you note all the curious kiddos above, during the past school year, via field trips they’ve hosted 749 students at the museum. They created unique curriculums based upon age, and the students had a lot of fun doing various inter-active learning activities as they tour the museum.
They have also consolidated their gifts section, opening up that room to new exhibit space. They plan to make that into a larger traveling exhibit area, putting that space to much better use.
One of the recent rotating exhibits, a replica of, and information all about the Water Filtration Building has moved into the museum and is on permanent display now.
If you didn’t know it – the museum actually has a HUGE archive of all types of things in the basement of the Boulder City Library. Tiane says they plan to bring as many of those items as they can into the daylight, so they can tell the story of our history and be appreciated by as many people as possible.
Lastly, don’t forget about the Historic House Plaque program, we told you about that a while back HERE. So far they have produced 27 of those plaques, but as we understand it, every classic home in the Historic District could potentially apply.
