US Representative Dina Titus Visits Boulder City to Announce Grant

US Representative Dina Titus was on hand this morning in front of the World Famous Coffee Cup Restaurant to announce that the City of Boulder City had received $850,000 in federal grant money to complete Phase II of the Nevada Way Reconstruction Project. She is a senior member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, which awarded the grant. This grant money will be used to enhance Nevada Way from Arizona Street to Colorado and Park Streets, as well as provide additional park accessibility for Wilbur Square (also known as Government Park).

Andrew Kjellman, Deputy CEO of Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTCSNV) opened the event with remarks about the assistance of Representative Titus in securing money for transportation projects in Boulder City. Improving safety and accessibility, while also supporting local businesses, is paramount when considering projects for funding.

Mayor Joe Hardy spoke about the partnership between the city and elected officials in Washington DC and the benefits of that relationship for residents and business owners. Becoming a more accessible city has been a priority of the City Council and City staff and he thanked all who were involved in Phase I of the project, which saw Nevada Way reconstructed from Wyoming Street to Arizona Street.

Gary Poindexter, Public Works and Utilities Director, talked about the cooperation between City staff and business owners along Nevada Way, in the Phase I project area. He recounted that there were some misgivings at first, but that all had come to agreement before the project got underway in July 2025. He credited the public input for ensuring that the project met its goals and he stated there are still a handful of outstanding items that are still scheduled for completion.

Owner of the Coffee Cup, Terry Stevens, thanked Representative Titus for her advocacy on behalf of the City and business owners along Nevada Way. He noted that input from the businesses was sought prior to construction and that helped minimize the negative impacts to those same businesses. He also spoke about the positive feedback he'd received from customers regarding the new parking configuration, which saw the city add several spots for motorcycle parking and four additional ADA compliant spaces along the Phase I segment.

The City plans to move forward with Phase II of the project once design is complete and a contractor is selected.
