USPS Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive This Saturday
Each year, the local United Postal Service Letter Carriers' Food Drive collects donations for our local food bank, Emergency Aid of Boulder City. This year, the need is just as great. Do you have unexpired, shelf-stable (non-perishable) foods you can donate this Saturday, May 9? If so, please place them in bags (plastic or paper) and put them near your mailbox for pickup. In particular, the volunteers have asked for the following food itemsz;
- Canned meats (chicken, tuna, Spam, etc)
- Canned chili
- Soup
- Jam and jelly
- Tomato sauce
- Spaghetti sauce
- Shelf-stable milk
- Crackers, chips, etc
- Condiments like ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce
- Rice
- Peanut butter
- Cereal (any kind or size, including children's)
- Dog and cat food
For other items, check out the list below:
- Diapers (children's sizes 1-5 and all adult sizes)
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Feminine hygiene products
- Facial tissues
- Toilet oaoer
- Deodorant
- Toothpaste and toothbrushes
- Dish soap
- Laundry detergent
- Cleaning supplies
- Sleeping bags (gently used)
Emergency Aid of Boulder City is also in need of clean plastic grocery sacks.
"Since launching in 1993, the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has grown into the nation’s largest one-day food drive, helping to fill the shelves of food banks in cities and towns throughout the United States."
Let's do our part to ensure that no one in Boulder City needs to go hungry. All local donations stay in Boulder City. One year, recently, they collected over 20,000 pounds of food. Let's try to meet or break that goal this year! Remember, it's this Saturday, May 9, 2026.
