Here’s something you didn’t expect to see – but sure enough it looks like one of the consequences of this exceptionally wet (but enjoyable) spring is that there have been mosquitoes in our area that have tested positive for West Nile Virus!
According to this article from Channel 3 News in Las Vegas, the Southern Nevada Health District says that this is an issue now.
One women has recovered from an illness back in April, who had the more serious neuroinvasive form of the illness.
So let’s all do our part here in Boulder City. Be aware of the symptoms of the illness and pay attention to a fever, headache or body aches, nausea or vomiting and other possible warning signs. Be safe and seek medical attention if in doubt. And of course do take a walk around your area or property and look for standing water or places where mosquitoes might breed. We know this is certainly an unusual type of activity for our area, but if we are all vigilant together that is the best way for us to keep this issue from impacting our community.
