Woody, the Backyard Bartender

Woodpecker in Boulder City, NevadaIt’s been so cold every morning that the water in my backyard fountain has been frozen over.

I’m a soft-touch, so I typically take a hammer and screwdriver out first thing in the morning and chip away at it so the birds can get to the water.

I didn’t get outside very early this morning to break the ice…mostly because it was fun watching the birds ice skate. But then Woody Woodpecker showed up and started hammering away at the ice until he punctured a hole through it for them to get their drinks!

I’ve been replaced…and by a BIRD! It’s not right, I tell ya. Just not right.
