Set your reading resolutions for 2026 and visit Boulder City Library in January. There are a host of activities and events to enjoy for pre-readers to the more seasoned citizens among our community. Let’s take a look at what’s being offered this month!

Regular business hours at the library are as follows:

  • Monday through Thursday from 10:00AM to 8:00PM.
  • Friday through Sunday from 10:00AM to 5:00PM.

The library will be CLOSED on the following days:

  • Thursday, January 1, 2026 in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday.
  • Monday, January 16, 2026 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr holiday.
Winter Reading Program

Unwrap a Good Book continues until January 31, 2026. Join now, using Beanstack, and be entered to win lots of fun prizes for your reading minutes and event attendance. You can sign up HERE.

Winter Story Walk
Enjoy reading The Snowy Day around the Boulder City Library Outdoor Amphitheater! The Winter Story Walk will run December 5, 2025 through January 30, 2026. Children should visit the youth department upon completion to choose a prize from the treasure chest.
Ages 0-5 Programs
  • Tuesdays at 10:30AM: Toddler Tuesday Storytime: Ages 1-3 and Caregiver. Join us for stories, songs, And A craft or activity. Board Room.
  • Fridays at 10:30AM: Drop In Storytime: Ages 0-5 and Caregiver. Join us for stories, songs, and crafts. Board Room.
  • Thursdays at 9:30AM: Early Risers Lapsit Storytime: Ages 0-2 and Caregiver. Join us for stories, songs, and play. Board Room.
Ages 6-11 Programs
  • Wednesdays 1/7 & 1/21 at 3:30PM: Youth Coding Club: Explore coding through hands-on activities, STEAM Kits, and online computer coding programs. Ages 6-11. Community Room.
  • Saturday 1/10 at 2:00PM: Kids-Be Internet Awesome: Google & Highlights partnered Program To help kids learn to become safe, kind, and confident explorers of the online world. Ages 5-11. Community Room.
  • Saturday 1/24 at 1:00PM: Youth Art Club: Come Create masterpieces at the library with various craft or art projects. Ages 6-11. Community Room.
  • Saturday 1/31 at 12:30PM: Youth Beginner Sewing Class: Join us for a youth beginner sewing machine basics class to learn to make a drawstring bag. Pregistration is required. Parents of children ages 6-12, please attend with your child for the duration of the class to provide assistance for your child. In the event you are unable to attend, please call (702) 293-1281 to cancel your registration. Ages 6-17. Community Room.
Ages 12-18 Programs
  • Tuesday 1/20 at 3:00PM: Teens-Be Internet Awesome: Google & Highlights partnered Program To help Teens learn to become safe, kind, and confident explorer of the online world. Ages 12-18. Community Room.
  • School Days at 2:00PM: Teen Time: Coloring, puzzles, board games, or crafts while you hang out with your friends. Teen Area.
  • Mondays at 3:00PM: Roleplayers Guild- Play Dungeons & Dragons. Ages 12-18. Nevada Room.
  • Wednesday 1/14 at 2:00PM: Teen Crafternoon: Tweens & Teens come hang out with your friends and enjoy working on a craft project. Ages 12-18. Community Room.

Family Programs
  • Tuesdays 1/13 & 1/27 at 3:30PM: Lego & Duplo Building Club: Bring the family for some creative fun! We provide the Legos & Duplo, you provide the imagination! Duplo available for kids ages 0-5 to build. Lego available for kids ages 6-11 to build. Parents/caregivers please attend for the duration of the program. Community Room.
All Ages Programs
  • Sunday, January 25 at 2:00PM: Singing in the Stacks- Library Karaoke: From Country to Christmas, Metal to Musicals, Rock to reggae, Opera to Oldies, join us and sing your favorite songs. No experience needed. Beginners are Welcome! No registration required. Ages 8+. Combined Community & Board Rooms.
Ages 18+ Programs
  • Tuesdays at 2:30PM: Crochet for A Cause Board Room.
  • Monday, January 5 at 11:00AM: Ancestry Club: Learn from others as you research your family history. All Ages. Board room.
  • Wednesday, January 7 at 6:30PM: Dam Book Club: Join us to discuss “Lessons in Chemistry” by Bonnie Garmus. To obtain a copy of the book, see Jessie. Meet at Southwest Diner & the Bar Next Door, located at 761 Nevada Way
  • Sunday, January 11 at 2:00PM: UV Resin- Pendants: Come join us to learn how to use UV resin to craft your own pendant. Pregistration is required. Community Room.
  • Tuesdays, 1/13 & 1/27 at 10:00AM: Cut-Ups Quilting Community Room.
  • Wednesday, January 14 at 11:30AM: Becca’s Book Club Ages 18+. Community Room.
  • Thursday, January 15 at 6:00PM: Crochet Skills Class, Stitch TBD: Pregistration is required. Monthly crochet project class – learn a new stitch and meet other crocheters. Some crochet experience required. Class runs 6:00PM to 7:30PM. Community Room.
  • Saturday, January 17 at 2:00PM: How Not To Burn Toast- New Year, New Recipes: Let’s try out some new recipes! Ages 16+. Community room.
  • Sunday, January 18 at 2:00PM: Fiber Arts Club: Learn from others and work on your projects with friends. Ages 16+. Community Room.
  • Tuesday, January 20 at 6:00PM: Come Write In Creative Writing: Creative writing prompts and activities to generate new writing. All skill levels welcome. Board Room.
  • Wednesday, January 21 at 6:00PM: Library Board of Trustees Meeting. Board Room.
  • Monday, January 26 at 1:00PM: Easy Does It Yoga: Relax and unwind. Please wear comfortable clothing. Use our mats, blocks, and straps, or bring your own! Ages 18+. Community Room.
  • Monday, January 26 at 4:00PM: DRI STEM Education Program: DRI’s STEM Education Program is excited to offer an educator professional development training on Microplastics, one of our newest middle school Green Boxes! Registration required. Ages 18+. Community Room.
  • Friday, January 30 at 12:00PM: Adult Beginner Sewing Class: Join us for a beginner Adult sewing machine basics class. Space is limited. In-person registration is required. A $10 materials fee must be paid in cash when registering for the class. $10 materials fee is non-refundable. In the event you are unable to attend, please call (702) 293-1281 to cancel your registration. Ages 18+. Community Room.
Weekly Makerspace Times:
  • Space is LIMITED, machines are first come, first serve.
  • Tuesdays 5:00PM – 7:00PM: Open Maker Time: Must be certified on the machines you intend to use. Makerspace.
  • Wednesdays 2:00PM – 4:00PM: Open Maker Time: Must be certified on the machines you intend to use. Makerspace.

  • Thursday, January 8 at 2:00PM: Cricut Certification Class: Pregistration is required. Makerspace.
  • Thursday, January 15 at 2:00PM: Button Maker & Die Cut Certification Class: Pregistration is required. Makerspace.
  • Thursday, January 22 at 2:00PM: Laser Engraver Certification Class: Pregistration is required.. Makerspace.
Tech Teachers
  • Tech teacher APPOINTMENTS are available! To sign-up for a one-on-one time, please visit the information desk or call the library at (702) 293-1281.
  • Exclusions for tech teacher include, but are not limited to: device repairs, device set-up, same day appointments, over the phone appointments, and/or multiple same week appointments.
  • Tech Teachers are available on Wednesdays 12:00PM and 1:00PM and Thursdays 12:00PM and 1:00PM.

The Boulder City Library is looking for literary artists to apply for our Annual Literary Arts Fair. The Fair will take place on Saturday, April 18th from 10:00AM to 3:00PM.
