Saturday, December 14th, the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located here in Boulder City, will be participating in “Wreaths Across America”, an annual event where wreaths are placed on the graves of Veterans to honor them for their service. You can share in the event and show your support in several ways:
1. Help lay wreaths at our local Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Register by first selecting our location in Boulder City, from the link HERE. Type in Boulder City, then select our location. Press View and then you’ll see a button where you can register to Volunteer. The ceremony will begin at 9 am and volunteers are welcome to attend. Last year (2018), over 1200 volunteers helped lay over 4,000 wreaths locally.
The need locally is large. Here are the stats from a few days ago:
Veteran Graves: 43,000
Coverage Goal: 10,000
Wreaths Sponsored So Far: 4,475
Registered Volunteers: 97
2. Sponsor a wreath to be laid locally, or anywhere else in the US:
If you would like to give a donation to sponsor a wreath, or want more information visit the Wreaths Across America page HERE. (www.wreathsacrossamerica.org)
What’s more, if you decide to sponsor a wreath you can do so in the name of a loved veteran who is currently serving, or in the name of a veteran who has passed. You can even make a personal donation to an existing grave marker at a participating Veterans Cemetery location. Wreath donations costs start at $15.00.
After the event, Prideinpurity International, is sponsoring a Veteran’s Brunch Buffet at Railroad Pass from 11am-1pm, at the steakhouse. The cost is $30, or $25 if you’re a veteran.
