Wow – there is a lot going on in town regarding coronavirus vaccinations and testing, so we’re going to try to give you a full run-down here of a lot of important information.
COVID-19 Vaccinations in Boulder City
Tuesday of this week the City opened up appointments for the coronavirus vaccines to be distributed locally beginning next Monday, January 25th. We told you all about that HERE. The City phone line to make those appointments has been SLAMMED with callers, and many have struggled to get through and get their appointments, but we’re told that as of last count, they have already made over 1400 appointments so far!
We reached out to the City, and they tell us one of the problems have been the number of phone calls they are fielding from people who are not qualified for this Boulder City round of vaccinations. So, to reaffirm this information – in this round the people who qualify for this local, free vaccination are:
- Boulder City Residents ONLY who are 70 or older
- Any Educator who either LIVES OR WORKS in Boulder City
- You must not have tested positive for the coronavirus within the last 90 days
Those who qualify may make an appointment by calling 702-293-9256. It may take you more than a few times to get through so please do keep trying.
Boulder City Residents DO Want the COVID-19 Vaccine
These are rare days indeed and we know culturally there are many strong opinions about both vaccines in general, and the many worries and concerns of this vaccine in particular given how rapidly it was developed, tested and approved for use. So, we wondered just as a general question, how you as Boulder City residents feel about taking the vaccine when it’s ready for you?
There were many diverse comments on social media, but we really were trying to steer you towards this actual poll, rather than just comments. And you spoke clearly – 70% of our readers would take the vaccine tomorrow were it available to them. Mind you, we didn’t ask your age, risk factors or any of that. Just the straight question. Here are the full results below:
These numbers sort of back up what we’re seeing here locally with the vaccine appointment phone lines. We know demographically we have a somewhat older population in BC, so folks are ready to get their shot and hope to put this pandemic behind them. I think ALL of us are really ready for a great big HUG!
A Big Step-up in Testing
This is also huge in our opinion: the City will now have drive-up, no appointment needed COVID-19 testing with RAPID RESULTS now available! We think this is a big step forward in hopefully seeing the numbers come down and make it easier for residents who need tests for work or who think they may have been exposed, get the results faster. A big win! Details below:
