UPDATE! The family is asking for proposals to be in by September 1st rather than the 15th.
This is news that EVERYONE in town has been awaiting with baited breath – when will the beloved Milo’s wine bar and eatery be on the market to reopen and begin its new life? After Milo Hurst passed on in November of last year, the vacancy has been keenly felt by those who love our downtown nightlife.
For those of us in the media, and for many city officials and others in town the proverbial phrase comes to mind, “If I had a dollar for every time I’d been asked when Milo’s would reopen…” I’d be exploring my new villa in Tuscany. Ok, maybe not. But we digress….
Milo’s family have announced their intentions to take offers for purchase on the location at 534 and 538 Nevada Way, the building that houses the wine bar, cellar and the inn and residence above it.
Inquiries can be sent to: Tevis Hurst by phone or text at 702-683-5534, or email tevis.hurst@gmail.com.
First round call for offers is on or before: Monday, Sept 1st by 5:00 pm.
This historic building has had a long life. It’s been a bank, a jewelry store and then since January 3, 2003 it became Milo’s. From an earlier article we share:
When Milo Hurst first opened his wine bar, downtown Boulder City wasn’t like the one we know today. Other than The Back Stop there was no other regular night life. The now World Famous Coffee cup along with another diner fed travelers and locals in town, but nothing enticed visitors to stay into the evening hours.
We’ve been lucky to have known Milo Hurst for over a decade now, and he told us how on the opening night of his ‘little venture’ he opened the doors and stepped out into the middle of a completely dead quiet Nevada Way, and hoped someone would come.
They did. In true “Field of Dreams” fashion, he built a wine bar in a little town that didn’t know it needed one, and people did come!
This location sits as the center of Boulder City’s downtown and we’re eager to see it come to life again! This “Cheers of Boulder City” is one of Milo’s best legacies and we admit, we still miss our friend. Let’s hope the family sees a great response. Please spread the word to folks you think would be interested in creating a new quality experience in this classic location in the heart of our historic downtown!
