Capitol Christmas Tree Ornament Event

As you'll recall, we recently told you about Nevada having the honor of supplying the Christmas tree at the US Capitol in Washington DC this year. You'll find that story HERE. In our story, we mentioned that 10,000 ornaments, handcrafted by Nevada residents, will be sent along with the tree. The theme for the ornaments is "Starry Skies to Neon Lights: The Spirit of the Silver State". In an effort to meet that goal for the decorations, the National Park Service is hosting a event for community members to come and make ornaments. This event takes place Friday, August 8, 2025 from 9:00AM to 12:00PM (you're welcome to drop in any time during those hours to participate). Just head over to the Lake Mead Water Safety Center on Lakeshore Drive and check in!

All supplies will be provided. There is no cost for the event, but you must RSVP so they can make sure they have enough supplies for ornament designers! Click HERE to RSVP. This activity is open to all ages and skill levels, but children must be supervised by an adult.
