Angelica Caro is not new to the restaurant industry. In fact, she grew up in it, working at her parents’ Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles. But she does have a brand new restaurant bearing her name: Angie’s Kitchen. It’s a lovely spot located at 1404 Boulder City Parkway, Suite B, in the same mall as The Doggie Stylist and Boulder City Bubbles Laundromat. It’s the same location of the former Woods Family Sandwiches.
People have been raving online about Boulder City’s newest addition to the city’s food landscape so we decided to stop in last week and check it out. The restaurant is a cheerful pink color that makes the space feel warm and inviting. Those were the vibes Angelica was looking for when she decided to take the plunge and finally open her own restaurant just a few weeks ago.
The menu was developed by Angelica and Chef Alma Vera, an internationally trained culinary professional who has worked in Italy, Thailand, and other locales before settling in the United States. As a result of her Alma’s varied experiences, and Angelica’s grounding in Mexican food, the menu is eclectic and full of great options for all customers. There are salads, pizzas, wraps, sandwiches, beef barbacoa, sundaes, crème brûlée, and more. There are vegetarian options and a children’s menu. This is in addition to coffee and pastries available all day. One extra special item that isn’t on the regular menu are the chicken or pork tamales. They are $3 each or $36 per dozen. Just call the restaurant at (725) 910-6187 with 24-hours notice for this special order.
Customers can order take out by calling the same number. The restaurant is in the process of getting set up with various delivery services to make it easier for those who have trouble getting out or are super busy and prefer the ease of having their orders delivered. They are also working on a website and social media presence to help get the word out about the restaurant.
Angelica is a serial small business owner. Overnight, she operates a restaurant cleaning business with multiple clients. This is one busy lady! She puts 100% into everything she does and it shows up in the restaurant. While we were there, she greeted customers, ran the register, took orders, and delivered food. You will find her pitching in wherever she’s needed.
Stop by and have a cup of coffee or try the pork cutlet in peanut sauce. The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday from 7:00AM to 5:00PM and Friday and Saturday from 7:00AM to 7:00PM. You won’t be disappointed when you visit Angie’s Kitchen!
