Visit a Railroad Activity this Weekend!

Two exciting events are happening this weekend and they revolve around trains! The first special event is a session of ornament making at the Nevada State Railroad Museum. As we mentioned HERE and HERE, the state of Nevada is sending a Christmas tree from the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nye County. This tree will be the Capitol Christmas tree and it's the first time Nevada has been bestowed with the honor. In addition to the tree, the citizens of Nevada will also provided hundreds of ornaments for the tree. Several state and federal agencies have held ornament making sessions with the public to meet this objective.

The Nevada State Railroad Museum will host ornament making at their facility on Saturday, September 6 from 9:30AM to 1:00PM. All supplies will be provided to attendees. Just meet up at 600 Yucca Street and create something beautiful for the special tree. There is no cost to participate.

After ornament making (and perhaps a train ride!), head on over to the Model Railroad Show hosted by Friends of Nevada Southern Railway. It's the biggest model train event in Nevada! They will be open on Saturday from 9:00AM to 5:00PM and Sunday from 9:00AM to 4:00PM. Admission is FREE for this fun experience. The show will take place at the Boulder City Parks and Recreation Center, located at 900 Arizona Street.
