Salvation Army Kettle Sponsorships

Salvation Army Kettle in Boulder City, NVRing-A-Ding-Ding…you’ve probably seen the Salvation Army Bell Ringers diligently manning their posts outside Vons and Albertsons for the past couple of weeks (I think they alternate locations).

Recently, I saw a green “sponsored by Home Hardware” sign affixed to the kettle and wondered what that was all about — so I reached out to Joe Rowe (you might know him as the ‘Red Shirt Guy’, who, along with Jack Edwards, does double-duty as one of the Boulder City Kettle co-coordinators).

Seems that local businesses can develop a team to man a kettle location for a day or two OR you can be a “Virtual Bell Ringer” by sponsoring a needy person to man a kettle in your name. Here’s a reprint of the letter offering sponsorships of the kettles for any Boulder City business or organization who might be interested in either option:

Dear Boulder City Organization,

We know that many of you have been Salvation Army fans for years. They do dramatic and selfless work during national and international calamities. The local adult day care center and recovery programs continue to serve many Boulder City residents. In addition, the Salvation Army partners with Emergency Aid of Boulder City in many programs including food distribution and Angel Tree programs.

The Holidays are almost here. Bell ringers and red kettles will be on the sidewalks. Please let’s try to help those growing number of families who are in desperate need.

We invite each of you to develop a team to man a kettle location for a day or two. Just let us know which days.

As an alternative, the “Virtual Bell Ringers” program has become very popular in our generous little town. We will provide and pay a needy person to man a kettle proclaiming the name of your business along with a Salvation Army logo. To participate in this program, simply make out a check to the Salvation Army ($90/day). You will be helping the needy bell ringer and the content of the kettle will be used to help many hungry and needy people. It’s a win, win program. Please help.
