Well, the news is as we feared…the autopsy results are back and our local River Mountains herd of Bighorn Sheep are afflicted with viral pneumonia.
The Las Vegas Review Journal reported on Thursday that officials have said that “it does not appear to be a particularly lethal strain”, but they are still “dismayed by the presence of the virus, which could cause lambs to get sick and die for years to come.”
It seems that the next step is for officials to get a better sense of the herd’s overall condition when they count sheep from a helicopter sometime within the next month…so we’ll no doubt have more news on this later.
