Spending time in Boulder City is a welcome activity for residents and visitors alike. While many of us who live here are well aware of the things this small town has to offer, visitors often don’t realize how many places there are to visit or things that can be done in the area. A couple years ago, the city commissioned a study on wayfinding and several items were identified and added to the FY 2023-2024 to the budget:
- Software to direct tourists to local businesses
- Signage
- Banners
- QR codes
- Highlight parking availability through additional signage
Recently debuting around town are special QR codes that link to a mobile cellphone ready website full of information about Boulder City’s small businesses, including: adventure, dining, lodging, services, retail, and parking locations. These stickers began appearing in business windows like Dam Roast House and Browder Bookstore, shown above. They were also added to the stationary information signage along downtown.
These codes are great because the information contained on the website can be updated as needed for new businesses, holiday events, and the like. Directing visitor traffic to the city’s small businesses, is a win for all concerned.
“The Chamber appreciates the support we receive from City Council and City staff,” said Jill Rowland Lagan, President of the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce. “Here in Boulder City, about 85 percent of the businesses are small, so being able to work with other businesses on marketing and promotion is critical to our success.”
Check out the code the next time you’re visiting a local business and you see the sticker in the window.
