As we know, the pantry over at Emergency Aid is rarely over-flowing and with the holidays upon us — I’m sure there will be turkey drives (never mind all the yummy fixin’s that are a must).
But I was wondering what really good “staple” items are good for Emergency Aid — the kind that have long shelf lives and/or the ones that leave the shelves the fastest…so I asked Fan Jeanne Thompson (who is one of the hard-working folks that help out over at Emergency Aid) and she gave me this “Top 10 List” to pass along.
I know that Albertsons has a box for food donations…it’s on the floor of the aisle you walk down after you’ve exited the cashier stations…so if you are at the store and feel like picking up a few staples, below is a good list. And even if you shop at another store, feel free to still drop them off at Albertsons or directly at Emergency Aid (which is in the old Water & Power Bldg. at 600 Nevada Hwy.).
Emergency Aid Top 10 Staples List
- Canned Chili
- Canned Tuna (packed in water)
- Cereal (of any kind)
- Peanut Butter
- Spaghetti Sauce
- Chef-Boy-Ardee products
- Jam or Jelly
- Pancake Mix and/or Syrup
- Cheese and/or Dairy Products (they seldom get donations of these items)
- Diapers and Paper Products (i.e. toilet paper)
Hope that helps — but of course, please feel free to shop “off the list”. Let’s be honest — having something to eat at all is great – so anything you are of a mind or in a position to give is always appreciated.
