This week, we’ve got more than just a Fan Photo for ya! We’ve got a treasure hunt of sorts – specifically, word on who might belong to these once important signatures?
But let’s get you some backstory first. Last week, resident Jeff Cuneo reached out on Facebook, asking if we might assist him in seeing if anyone knows who these folks were, or possibly if there are relatives of same still in our area. We’d never even heard of this place called ‘Signature Rock’, so we asked for more info.
To quote Jeff directly: “Tony Kraeger is the big one “five more miles to boulder canyon” signature rock is in Pinto Valley and its very remote and highly unlikely you know of it. There was a county road that went past it in the 20-s. One segment went down the wash to the lake – there almost certainly had to be a ferry landing. That’s why he wrote “5 more miles”.
These photos [below] give context of where it is from a distance. I know its unbelievable that a road went through there but trust me it did—and is still there.”
So…Boulder City history buffs, Clampers, Historical Society members, and others – let’s see what we can learn about who put their names on this rock, and most importantly, who Tony Kraeger might have been. It’s certainly a fascinating thing to learn about!
