Have you ever heard of a Master Sommelier? Do you know what one is?
We’d like to introduce you to one who lives and works right here in Boulder City – Ms. Cameron Sisk (better known as Cami) at Milo’s Cellar and Inn. Best of all, she was recently featured in the current issue of Luxury Las Vegas Magazine.
If you like to drink and enjoy wine, then chances are you’ve heard of a Sommelier, sometimes simply referred to as SOM. But to achieve this level of a Master Sommelier, is really something quite special.
According to the Court of Master Sommeliers, which is the examining body behind this distinction, there are currently only 158 Master Sommeliers in the Americas, and of that, only 25 of them are women(!).
So now you can hopefully see why our local Cami really is quite an extra-ordinary gem! Luxury Las Vegas says that there are 11 Master’s working and living in the Las Vegas area. To compare, in California – which is the heart of the US wine region – there are 50 Master’s.
But what is even more important is how challenging this Master level is to achieve. Known as being one of the toughest tests in the world, here is a summary of the rigorous testing process that only 8% of the candidates successfully pass!
There have been a few recent documentaries done on the subject, “SOM” from Netflix being one, and also the Esquire Network’s docu-series, “Uncorked”.
You can enjoy the full article in Luxury Las Vegas HERE, but be sure to come by Milo’s and tip your glass to a truly special lady we’re all pleased to call a friend. Congratulations Cami for the well deserved recognition!
