City to Hold Meetings on Historic Preservation and Facilities Review

Workshops Planned Boulder City, Nevada

The City has announced two meetings that will be held next week on several important topics here in town.

First, is the Facilities Review Workshop. There are two meetings set up at City Hall, on Tuesday, March 3rd at 6pm and another on Wednesday, March 4th at 9am. On hand will be City Staff as well as the team from Stantec, who the City hired to create this extensive study on all of the city facilities (we told you about that HERE). In the study, they review most of the city-owned buildings’ current conditions, maintenance issues and costs, as well as take a look at their long-term functionality toward arranging our city assets in a more ‘user friendly’ way. The study also makes recommendations about how to potentially reconfigure many buildings and evaluate their ‘best, highest use.’

Secondly, will be the opening kick-off meeting on the Historic Preservation Plan. This will be at the Multi Use Building (1204 6th Street) on Thursday, March 5th from 6-8pm. The City’s Strategic Plan has identified historic preservation as being a high priority for us, and this will be the first of several meetings planned to get community input. Working with the community and City Staff on this project will be the Nevada Preservation Foundation, which is a non-profit that specifically assists communities, neighborhoods and private organizations in how to construct cohesive historic preservation plans.

We know, it’s a lot of activity in a short period of time and we all have these things called LIVES! But, these opportunities to participate in, learn, listen and share your opinions and feedback really matter in the great scheme of life here in Boulder City. We’ll hope to see a good turnout from as many people as can attend!
