Artists, rev your engines – or your paint brushes or whatever you use, because it’s back! The folks at the Dam Short Film Festival are again holding a contest to see who can design the poster for the 2021 event. The winner gets not only fame and fortune, ($500) but they get cool swag and VIP Passes to the event as well!
Last year when they did this, we were all incredibly impressed with the entries and of course the winner as well! Executive Director for the festival, Tsvetelina Stefanova says, “We had such an amazing response to our Poster Art Contest and the subsequent Poster Art Show that we decided that we should do it again!” Here’s what you need to know, copied right off the contest guidelines:
Poster design must fit a 12×18″ vertical format and include the Hoover Dam, Boulder City, and/or Southern Nevada landscape. The design must be family friendly. Text must include:

Please Note: The Dam Short Film Society board of directors will select a winning design from the entries. The first place winning poster design will also be used for other promotional materials such as tickets, passes, T-shirts, pins, magnets, stickers, hats, web banners, and printed advertisements. If you submit a design, you warrant that you own all rights to the design. First place winner will be asked to sign a release allowing the Dam Short Film Society to use the design in perpetuity. Submitters retain the copyright to their respective designs. All submitted designs will be featured in a poster art show in Boulder City (location and date to be announced). To Submit: Send a digital copy of the design to admin@damshortfilm.org by June 1st. Include POSTER ENTRY in subject line. The copy can be a flattened PNG or JPG file. However, winner will be asked to submit an original PSD file with separate layers for text and background (the more layers, the better!). The original file must be 12×18″ at 300 DPI.
