Back in October, we told you HERE that the City along with the Historic Preservation Committee announced that they would produce four different videos of homes and buildings in Boulder City that they thought were significant, and those who had won awards for the best Historic Preservation here in town.
We plan to show you all four videos, produced in place of being able to do live tours. The home on 1342 Denver Street was the winner for 2020 and the first video produced and shared. But it’s been a bit hectic, so we hadn’t gotten around to showing you the orders, but we’re getting back to that now!
This is the second video featured in the series, and it’s giving us some amazing information. Not only is it touching on the significance of Hoover Dam, (originally known of course as Boulder Dam) but it shares some highlights from the first time its electricity was pumped into Los Angeles, California.
Anyhow, back to the structure and award nominee at hand – you’re going to get a nice look both inside and out at “The Ash Street Duplex Cottages” located behind the LADWP Building at 508 – 526 Ash Street.
Each one of these cottages is available to be part of the National Registry of Historic Places. The owner and caretaker of the property has worked hard to keep these homes authentic, such as taking the time to find the correct composition to the roof tiles and other pesky details. The properties still also contain their original kitchens and bathroom tiles and beautiful parquet floors as well. Enjoy!
