Well, you don’t get a spiffy new car and wanna leave it out in the sun all day, right? Nope!
Plans are in the works to build a solar-powered shade structure over the center island parking area on California Street west of ‘North Escalante Park’. I had a hard time picturing where this was, so I snapped the below photo for you — I was standing in the middle of Arizona St. with the Boulder City Antique Market (formerly Central Market) behind me and City Hall is to my right. The brick building you see in front of me is the rear of the post office.
The solar panels will provide the shade and be connected to the electric service meter to provide the power that will be used to charge the City’s new electric vehicles (which get an awesome 84 miles per charge, btw)!
