Time Passages: A Tribute to Boulder City in Photos

David Pechulas Time Passages Boulder City, NV

Get ready to enjoy a historic and truly inspired look at our lovely little Boulder City through the talented lens of David Pechulis! The book called ‘Boulder City Time Passages’ is available in paperback now on Amazon, and sometime around January 10th the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce (100 Nevada Way) will also have them on hand for in-person purchase!

We spoke with David about the inspiration for the book and it really comes down to passion and David’s love for the quiet solitude he finds in getting just the right shot, at just the right moment, purely for the joy of doing so. He told us of finding himself wandering the streets of Boulder City at 2am on a stormy night, just to enjoy the process of capturing the rain falling in the lights. He shoots mostly in black and white, but strategically uses color to jolt the eye in other pieces. One of my favorite photos I told him, is of the iconic ‘Christmas House on 5th Street’ in town, but to see it shown in black and white was stunning and unique compared to how most of us visit this holiday treasure. Bottom line – he makes our town look COOL!

And if you’re not convinced yet, even better is the fact that all net proceeds from the sale of the book go to charity, the Boulder City Kassidy Pechulis Honorary Scholarship. Directly from the Time Passages web site, “The Boulder City Kassidy Pechulis Honorary Scholarship provides senior special needs high school students, having a 504 status, with the ability to start their lives with a little hand up into the adult world furthering their education or work endeavors.”

David says he started taking photos back in 2019, as just a hobby that quickly grew in importance to him personally and then took several courses in the artform. As people saw his work, he received requests for more, but insists he really has no desire for the limelight. David has donated his photography in the past, but was always too attached to it to sell his work. Now with the book he is able to bring all of his passion projects together at once.

You can preview the 115 photos from the book on his website, but personally, we can’t wait to buy this ourselves and add it to our collection of local artists in town who love our city as much as we do. Thank you, David for your passion and sharing your work with us all!
